How to Study on Your Phone Without Getting Distracted
Practical ways to use your phone for board exam study without losing hours to social media, from app settings to session rules.
For many students, the phone is the only study device. It can be a great tool if you control it.
Set up the phone
- Focus mode or Digital Wellbeing: block social apps during study hours.
- Turn off notifications for everything except calls.
- Move social apps off the home screen and into a folder.
- Install your study app on the home screen. BoardPrep installs straight from the browser.
Session rules
- Decide the task before unlocking: for example, "20 Trigonometry questions".
- Use a timer: 45 minutes on, 10 off.
- Keep breaks off-screen: walk, water, stretch.
Use the phone for active work
Phones are good for question practice, quick revision and flashcards. Do long-answer writing on paper. You need the handwriting practice for the exam anyway.
When it isn't working
Put the phone in another room and study from paper for a session. Even one phone-free session a day makes a difference.
192 CBSE board papers split into single questions with official answers, chapter-wise practice and unlimited mock papers. 100% free: no ads, no paid plan, no hidden charges.
