CBSE Board Exam Day Checklist: What to Carry and What's Not Allowed

A complete CBSE board exam day checklist covering what to carry, what's banned, reporting time and a simple routine for the morning of the exam.

Pack the night before, so the morning is calm.

Carry

  • Admit card: check your name, roll number, centre and paper details
  • School ID card (regular students)
  • Blue or black pens, with a spare or two
  • Pencil, eraser, sharpener, scale and geometry box in a transparent pouch
  • Transparent water bottle
  • Analog watch, if your centre allows it (check your admit card instructions)

Don't carry

Mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, earphones or any electronic device, and no notes or chits. These can lead to action under CBSE's unfair-means rules.

Timing

Papers usually start at 10:30 AM, with the question paper handed out at 10:15 for reading. CBSE generally closes entry around 10:00 AM. Your admit card shows the exact timings. Plan to arrive early, especially on the first day.

Morning routine

  1. A light breakfast and water.
  2. A quick look at your formula or key-term sheet, not a new topic.
  3. Leave with time to spare.
  4. At the centre, avoid last-minute panicked discussions with friends.
