Class 12 Board Percentage Needed for NEET (and Why Boards Still Matter)

The Class 12 board requirement for NEET eligibility, what PCB percentage means, and how NEET aspirants can secure their board marks efficiently.

NEET decides medical admissions, but you must also meet a Class 12 board requirement to be eligible.

The requirement

You must pass Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English, with a minimum percentage in PCB set by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The percentage differs by category. Check the current NEET information bulletin for the exact figures.

Why it's easy to secure, and why students still slip

The NCERT syllabus overlaps almost completely with NEET, so the concepts are already there. Students slip when they never practise written answers, diagrams and derivations, and the board format catches them out.

A light-touch board routine

  • one board-style written session a week
  • labelled Biology diagrams practised regularly
  • full board papers from mid-January

Board chapters to secure
